| Optimal Energy Joule |
The joule is South Africa's answer to the Chevy Volt, currently (excuse the pun!) in pre-production testing and shake-down and scheduled for mass production from 2014. Unlike the 4 seater Volt though the Joule can seat 5 people.
The Joule can sprint from 0-60 kmh (37 mph) in a very respectable 5 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 135 kmh (83 mph), regenerative braking helps the Joule to a projected range of 190miles. Optimal expects to achieve a Euro Ncap 4 rating.
